Create an eBVD - step by step

A published eBVD is open for everyone and searchable in the system.

An eBVD can either be completed manually directly in the tool or via an import file, allowing multiple products to be uploaded simultaneously.

An eBVD can include multiple articles and products—for example, if they contain the same substances within a defined concentration range.

The supplier completes the eBVD for their own products and materials. In other words, eBVD is a self-declaration system.

How do I create an eBVD?

You affiliate your company or organization to eBVD by completing the form avaliable here. After submitting the form, you will receive an agreement for signature. Once the signed agreement has been returned to eBVD i Norden AB, your company account will be activated in the eBVD system.

Once your company account has been activated, the next step is to create and add users to begin using the system. As the applicant for the company account, you log in using your email address. The first time you log in to the eBVD system, click on the “Forgot password” link and follow the instructions to set your password. After logging in, you can invite additional users to the company account.

Once you have created a user account and logged in to portal.ebvd.org, you can begin creating an electronic building product declaration (eBVD). This is done by selecting “Create eBVD” within your company account.

In the eBVD you create, you then enter the requested information about your product or material. Please note that some information is mandatory, while other fields are optional.

While you are working on your eBVD, it is saved internally within your company account and is only visible to users who have access to the account.

Once you have completed all the required information in your eBVD, you may choose to publish it. In order to publish, all mandatory fields must be completed. The eBVD system is a self-declaration system, meaning that the supplier or manufacturer owns the data registered in the system and is responsible for ensuring that it is accurate and verified.

After publication, the current version of the eBVD is locked for editing. To modify or update any information in a published eBVD, a new version must be created. The new version remains editable until it is published. There is currently no limit to the number of versions an eBVD may have.

A published eBVD is openly accessible via the search service on portal.ebvd.org, as well as through the eBVD system’s API. An unpublished or unpublished (withdrawn) eBVD, however, can only be viewed internally by users within the company account where it was created.

An eBVD is an electronic building product declaration that compiles digital environmental information about a construction product or building material. Published eBVDs are searchable and accessible to the entire industry.

The eBVD format is managed by Byggmaterialindustrierna and distributed through eBVD i Norden AB, a company jointly owned by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Byggmaterialindustrierna.

Manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, designers, contractors, clients, and property managers — anyone who requires reliable product information in a construction project.

Companies create and are responsible for their own data in the system, while the format and structure are standardized to ensure comparability.

Yes. eBVD is designed to share data via API with systems such as BASTA, so that information does not need to be entered multiple times.

Published eBVDs are searchable and accessible to the entire industry. Drafts and unpublished eBVDs remain private until they are published.

eBVD can be exported and shared as PDF and XML, as well as via API for machine-to-machine communication.
