How does the eBVD system work?

An electronic building product declaration (eBVD) is an industry standard for reporting environmental information on building materials. It is presented in a digital format designed to ensure traceability throughout the value chain.

As a manufacturer of construction products and building materials, you can easily register and manage your digital environmental information in the eBVD system. All published eBVDs are openly searchable and accessible to anyone interested.

The information to be registered in an eBVD has been agreed upon by the entire construction industry. The format provides a consolidated and mutually agreed foundation for communicating the environmental aspects of a product or chemical substance at different stages of its life cycle.

The eBVD system is a web application that enables companies to register their building product declarations, store and manage versions, and share them digitally. The industry standard is updated in response to changes in legislation and market requirements.

What can you use an eBVD for?

  • As an open, digital information channel from supplier to user and customer.

  • To meet external certifications and assessments related to sustainable material choices, such as Miljöbyggnad. Read more under External Parties.

  • To support internal product development by identifying substances and chemicals that should be phased out. When completing the declaration, it becomes clear whether substances are listed under REACH or carry an H-phrase indicating that they should be phased out. Identifying substances of concern can serve as a basis for substitution in product development.

  • As product information material, for example in sales training sessions.

The platform facilitates both the collection and updating of data and ensures that the documentation is traceable and follows a standardized format. This makes it easier both internally and for our customers to access accurate and comparable information.
