eBVD and Byggvarubedömningen initiate a collaboration

The construction and real estate sector is facing increasing demands for open, traceable, and quality-assured environmental information. Within the framework of a newly launched joint industry agreement on environmental data, multiple actors are now working to enable efficient sharing of product information across a seamless digital value chain.

Against this background, Byggvarubedömningen and eBVD have initiated a collaboration to develop an integration between their systems. During the spring, joint meetings have been held with companies using both systems, with very positive results.

The purpose of the integration is to reduce doing the same work multiple times and make it easier to share and reuse environmental data on construction products across different systems. This aligns with the industry’s ambition to enable more efficient processes, lower costs, and better decision-making through standardised and accessible information.

– There is a clear need in the industry for the same product information to be usable across multiple systems. This initial exploration shows that we are on the right track towards more efficient information exchange,”says Charlotte Stjernqvist, Product Owner for eBVD.

For Byggvarubedömningen, the goal is to facilitate the transfer of relevant product information and create a more efficient flow of information for users. The initial focus has been on exploring how data from eBVD can be utilised within Byggvarubedömningen’s system. The findings indicate strong potential for a more automated and quality-assured exchange of information. As part of the process, dialogues have also been held with selected companies in the sector to ensure that development meets user needs.

– For us, it is about making it easier for our users to digitally transfer information from eBVD that is also relevant for assessments in our system. An integration with eBVD would help reduce duplication of work and increase efficiency in the assessment process, says Moa Åberg, Business Development Manager at Byggvarubedömningen.

Following this positive initial phase, the work will now move forward. The concrete development of the integration is planned to begin in the autumn.

The overall aim is to contribute to a more coherent management of environmental data in the construction and real estate sector, where information can be shared without lock-in effects and used throughout the entire lifecycle – from manufacturing to completed building.
