Relationship to Certifications

There are several external building certification schemes that set material requirements. These actors have criteria aimed at minimizing hazardous substances in products, and some also require digital logbooks.

Miljöbyggnad

In all generations of Miljöbyggnad, there is an indicator that covers the documentation of building products used during construction. To achieve certain rating levels for this indicator, product content must be recorded in a logbook, and an eBVD can be used for this purpose. See more information below:

Miljöbyggnad 4.X

Indicator 15 - logbook of building products
Bronze
  • No requirements.

Silver
  • The product has an eBVD or equivalent.

Gold
  • The product has an eBVD or equivalent.

  • The products’ location and quantity are specified in the logbook.

Indicator 13 - circular material flows
Bronze
  • At least two building products must contain a minimum of 10 percent recycled material by weight.

Silver
  • At least three building products must contain a minimum of 20 percent recycled material by weight.

Or

  • At least 20 percent by weight of at least one type of building product must be reused.

Gold
  • At least 20 percent by weight of at least two types of building products must be reused.

Or

  • At least 40 percent by weight of at least one product group must be reused.

Instruction

Building materials containing recycled material must be documented in, for example, the latest applicable eBVD or equivalent and recorded in the project’s logbook.

BREEAM-SE

It is possible to earn points in BREEAM-SE by meeting criteria related to the logbook and hazardous substances in products. This is described in the criterion “Mat 07 Hazardous Substances,” where an eBVD can be used as a basis for information on a product’s content. This is subject to the condition that information on the approximate quantity and location of the products within the building has been recorded..

Generation 6.X
